Pipe-laying is under way in the Khan Younis and Rafah governorates under Contract W01, where MACC is installing about 65 km of ductile-iron water mains for the Palestinian Water Authority with World Bank funding.
In August 2023 MACC's crews were laying ductile-iron water mains in the Khan Younis and Rafah governorates as part of Contract W01, Reconfiguration of Water Distribution Systems in the Southern Gaza Governorates, for the Palestinian Water Authority.
The World Bank-funded contract, part of the Gaza Central Desalination Plant and Associated Works, Phase 1, covers about 65 km of ductile-iron pipelines from DN150 to DN1600, connections to the existing networks with valve chambers, and reservoir upgrades including the Tal Al Sultan reservoir. The reconfigured networks will let desalinated water from the planned central plant reach the municipalities of both governorates.
Works are spread over the Rafah, Al Shoka, Al Naser and Al Fukhari municipalities in Rafah governorate and the Khan Younis, Al Qarara, Bani Suhaila, Eastern Villages and Wadi Al Salqa municipalities in Khan Younis governorate.
